Grandma's Grilled Apple Pie
2 pie crust (homemade or store bought)
10 Granny Smith Apples
2 large cubes of butter
(do not substitute for margarine)
1 cup of sugar
3 tbs of Pumpkin Pie Spice
I start by warming up my grill and if you have a side burner, turn it on as well.
Cut and core the apples. Do not peel them as the peeling is part of the flavor. Put them in a large sauce pan with the butter, sugar and pumpkin pie spice. Put on the side burner on a med to high and cook them in the butter sauce for about 10 to 15 minutes. Don't over cook them or you will have apple sauce pie.. :-) Have your bottom pie crust already in the pie dish and make sure it's warm. Spoon the cooked apples in and cover with the remaining pie crust. over the top and pinch the sides closed. With a basting brush, take some of the remaining butter sauce from the pan and brush the top of the pie. Then cut four small slits in the middle of the pie.
Grill for 20 minuets or until golden brown. Golden equals crispy crust.
Top with a scoop of your favorite vanilla ice cream and Carmel sauce.
Happy Grilling Folks :-)
